On April 11, 1998, the Korea Institute sponsored the third annual Korean Studies Graduate Student Conference at Harvard University. Professor David McCann served as the faculty advisor to John Frankl, Scott Swaner, and Tae Yang Kwak, the graduate students who organized this year's conference. Featured were panels on Korean art and literature, as well as history and international relations, and the day-long event ended with a round table discussion on possible future directions for the Korean studies field. The conference was well-attended and truly international, drawing nearly half of its presenters from abroad, representing universities in England, Korea, and Holland. Also represented were UCLA and Cornell University. We would like to thank all those who organized and participated for making this conference a success.
