Equipment Information
A. Reserving Equipment
Please call the appropriate facility a minimum of three business days in advance to reserve equipment when you will not require a technician's assistance to operate the equipment. One week's notice is recommended to insure equipment availability. For laptop computers, which are in especially high demand, a minimum of two week's notice is recommended.
We will do our best to provide equipment on shorter notice but we cannot guarantee equipment availability. Please note that priority is given to supporting FAS courses and course-related activities restricted to members of one course.
Departmental and administrative events will be supported as our resources allow. In the instance that we do not have equipment available, we will provide referrals to outside media equipment vendors.
When requesting assistance, please be ready to provide complete information on what you want to be able to do (lecture using a microphone, play a CD, show a video, have live musicians, show slides, etc.) and if you have any specific equipment requests.
If you will be using a non-commercially produced CD, CD-ROM, DVD, or DVD-ROM with our MTS computer equipment, it is a good idea to make arrangements to test the multimedia in advance. This allows us to check for conflicts between your applications or files and our computer equipment.
If your plans change after you request equipment, please let us know about the change as much in advance as possible. We will accommodate change requests as much as possible but we cannot guaranntee last minute availability of additional equipment.
B. Equipment Responsibility
Equipment renters accept financial responsibility for borrowed equipment and are responsible for returning it in good condition or paying to repair or replace equipment damaged, lost or stolen while in their possession.
C. Equipment Rental and Use
Customers may borrow and use some equipment without assistance (see Equipment Rates). Other equipment requires a brief training session before it may be rented. Finally, some types of equipment may only be operated by one of our technicians, so for those items, borrowers will be required to pay both equipment and labor charges.
D. Cancelling Requests
All cancellations should be called in as much in advance as possible.
