The Exchanges of Economic, Legal and Political Ideas project will be undertaken at the University of Cambridge and at Harvard University over the period 2010-2015. It is the continuation of an earlier programme at the Joint Centre for History and Economics, Exchanges of Economic and Political Ideas since 1750. Like the earlier program, it has been made possible by generous grants to the University of Cambridge from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The Joint Centre is pleased to welcome Julia Stephens, the Mellon Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre in connection with the programme on Exchanges of Legal, Economic and Political Ideas. Her research focuses on how law shaped religion, family, and economy in colonial South Asia and in the wider Indian diaspora.
