The Division of Health Policy Research and Education at Harvard University offers advanced training in mental health services and policy research to individuals who have already completed all requirements for Ph.D., M.D., or other relevant doctoral degrees in economics, sociology, psychology, social work, psychiatry, public health or other related fields. This training is supported by the National Institute of Mental Health under the National Research Service Award programs. Fellows accepted for enrollment enter the program for periods of up to two years, depending on the nature of their chosen areas of interest and the time required for the kind of project activity they identify in conjunction with a program mentor.
Training emphases are the organization, financing, utilization, quality and political analysis of mental health care. The program provides experience in a well-funded research environment with excellent opportunities for faculty collaboration and publication. We have funding for two post-docs each year, and awards will be made for a two-year period. Pre-doctoral training grants in mental health services research are also available through the Harvard Ph.D. Program in Health Policy (www.fas.harvard.edu/~healthpl).* As the program is committed to increasing the diversity of its population, minority candidates, including African-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Asian-Americans, are especially encouraged to apply.
