Harvard China Student Service Program
Program Overview

The Harvard China Student Service Program (HCSSP) supports students across the University in performing public service in China. Visiting under-developed areas enables these volunteers to contribute—and reflect—on the complexities of Chinese society.

HCSSP is open to returning undergraduate students from all concentrations, and no Chinese language skills are required. Harvard students work side by side with their peers from Chinese and American universities, allowing them the opportunity to volunteer and have a personal impact through public service and cultural exchange.

The Harvard China Fund will offer HCSSP in partnership with various Chinese Universities. Harvard and Chinese students are paired together to teach English, conduct poverty alleviation research, and visit local villages. Summer 2012 will feature a collaboration with Tsinghua University's Summer Service Learning Program, including an introduction to Chinese language, culture and history.
