Harvard China Student Internship Program
Program Overview
The Harvard China Student Internship Program (HCSIP) seeks to create transformational experiences for Harvard students as they prepare for a
lifelong engagement with China. The program is open to returning undergraduate students from all concentrations and Chinese language ability is a plus,
but not required.
HCSIP is a collaborative effort involving Harvard’s Office of Career Services and Office of International Programs in parntership with Chinese
corporations, NGOs/NPOs, and multinational companies in China. Students experience modern China through their internship placements and gain an
introduction to Chinese history and culture, all while learning first-hand about life in the workplace. The structure of the program includes a
10-week internship, a week-long field trip, and numerous cultural events.
The participating host companies provide some level of support through a combination of round-trip airfare, a monthly stipend, and / or housing for students during their
internship. The companies also develop job descriptions and assign mentors from within their organization to assist the Harvard interns during
their summer placement.
Since 2008, HCSIP has grown into one of the largest and most successful summer internship programs at Harvard.
