A Photographic Competition and Exhibition on Cultural Exchange and Human Diversity The Harvard Foundation and the Freshman Dean's Office invite freshmen to submit their original photographs in a contest on the theme "Our World." Entries will be judged on the artistry of each photograph and its connection with the contest theme, cross-cultural exchange and human diversity. Ten selected entries will be exhibited in Annenberg Hall, and one entry will be selected for a Grand Prize consisting of a $50 gift certificate to a restaurant in Harvard Square and two tickets to the Harvard Foundation's Cultural Rhythms in February 2009. Terms and Conditions 1. Closing date for entries is midnight EST on January 30, 2009. Each entrant may submit up to three images. 2. The competition is open to all freshmen enrolled at Harvard University during the academic year 2008-2009. 3. All images must be submitted in digital form and must have been taken by the entrant submitting them. Digitally enhanced images will not be accepted. 4. Digital images must conform to the JPEG standard and have a minimum resolution of 1600x1200 or 1200x1600 depending on orientation. Entries must include a title for each image. 5. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe either national or local laws. 6. Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with their respective photographers but the Harvard Foundation and the Freshman Dean's Office reserve the right to feature any or all of the submitted images on the Harvard Foundation website, on the Harvard Freshman Dean's Office website, in the Harvard Foundation Spring Journal, in the Yard Bulletin, and as part of a print photograph exhibit in Annenberg Hall at any time without payment to the photographers. The photographers of any images so featured will be fully credited. 7. Submitted images must not have won a prize in any other photographic competition. 8. One image shall be selected for a Grand Prize consisting of a $50.00 gift certificate to a restaurant in Harvard Square to be chosen by the Freshman Dean's Office and two tickets to the Harvard Foundation's Cultural Rhythms in February 2009. Nine other images shall be selected for an exhibition in Annenberg Hall. 9. A panel of judges, consisting of at least one freshman, one freshman proctor, and one professor or administrator, will judge the entries. The Harvard Foundation and the Freshman Dean's Office will select the judges. All decisions of the judges are final and cannot be appealed. 10. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions. |
