HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS:

Congratulations on your acceptance at Harvard! Consider starting your time here with the First-Year Outdoor Program!

Going on FOP is one of the best ways to make an amazing group of friends, find upperclass mentors, build social support, and orient yourself to life at Harvard. Every year, students who don't go on FOP tell us that they wish they had!

2012 FOP trips will run from August 20th to 26th, getting you back on campus in time for move-in day and on-campus orientation.

If you are interested in learning more about The First-Year Outdoor Program, check out FOPpers section of the website.

If you would like to apply to the First-Year Outdoor Program, our online application will open in April and will close on May 7th! If you want to receive an email reminder when the application opens, as well as a few other tidbits of info during the winter and spring, please sign up for our Class of 2016 email list.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, or just knock on our office door, which is in the basement of Matthews, Room B-3!

Leader Applicants:

We are no longer accepting applications to lead FOP for 2012. If you have applied, we will be contacting folks for interviews when we get back to campus after winter break. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch, although be aware the office will not be staffed for much of January.

Also, you can view all the spring training dates, FOP dates for the Fall, and the leader medical form under the Leaders section of the website.

Interested in DONATING to FOP?

We sent out 287 FOPpers on 35 FOP trips this August. We gave financial aid to a record number of these students (45%), and loaned rental gear to 81% of them (meaning fewer expensive purchases families had to make).

All of this progress was funded by the generosity of donors to FOP. That's why we need your help to keep making progress toward our goal of making FOP accessible to any interested student, regardless of means.

Many of you have already donated this year, and we are incredibly grateful for your support. So far this year, we've raised just a tad over $5,000 in donations. This is a great start, but we clearly need your help to get to our goal of $28,000 for the year.

Whether or not you have the money to give to FOP, you may be interested to learn more about how FOP donations are allocated or to read some of the wonderful memories that come out of FOP trips. FOP's 2011 Annual Report, "The Fuzzy Cheesecake" contains contributions from first-years, leaders, leader alums, parents, and staff members from Harvard, past and present, and gives more insight into these topics and our hopes and dreams for the years to come.

If you would like to donate, please send a check made out to Harvard First-Year Outdoor Program to:

Harvard FOP
6 Prescott St.
Cambridge, MA 02138

Please submit the check along with this donation slip, and we will be sure to send you a card back to thank you for any amount that you have given! We have had donors give anywhere from $25 to $15,000, so you can't give too little or too much! Thank you for supporting FOP!
