NOTE: On May 10 we emailed out our acceptance emails; attached was a document that contained errors ("12 Logistics.pdf"). We have posted a corrected document on our Mailings page. Please accept our apologies for the error.

All 2012 FOP Participants and interested students:

From May 10 - May 21, we will be busy with training our newest class of FOP leaders. We will be out of the office for most of that time. If you need to reach out to us, please send us an email at fop@fas.harvard.edu, as we will occasionally check that account (please be aware, though, that we will not have time to immediately reply to all messages). If you need urgent assistance, please call the Freshman Dean's Office at 617-495-1574.

From May 22 - June 4, the FOP office will be closed.

From June 4 - June 11, we will have a skeleton crew as we wait for students to return for the summer. We will do our best to respond to inquiries and questions.

Leader Trainees:

Complete your office hours!

Please tell your families: During training trips, the best way to reach a FOP leader trainee is to call the Freshman Dean's Office at 617-495-1574. Please be aware that it make take 24 hours or more for a message to reach a trainee, and it could be longer for that person to be able to respond.

Interested in DONATING to FOP?

We are dedicated to making FOP accessible to any interested student, regardless of means. Each year, dedicated leaders, alumni, and friends of the program donate money to help move us toward that goal. We're delighted to announce that we've reached our goal of raising $28,000! If you are thinking about giving, every dollar we raise above our goal will still go toward making FOP financially accessible - so please give!

All of the money we raise will be spent on one of two things: direct financial aid or loaner gear to prevent families from having to purchases expensive equipment. For all of you who have donated, we are incredibly appreciative of your generosity and support. If you would like to help us by making a donation, please see the bottom of this column for more instructions.

Whether or not you have the money to give to FOP, you may be interested to learn more about how FOP donations are allocated or to read some of the wonderful memories that come out of FOP trips. FOP's 2011 Annual Report, "The Fuzzy Cheesecake" contains contributions from first-years, leaders, leader alums, parents, and staff members from Harvard, past and present, and gives more insight into these topics and our hopes and dreams for the years to come.

If you would like to donate, please send a check made out to Harvard First-Year Outdoor Program to:

Harvard FOP
6 Prescott St.
Cambridge, MA 02138

Please submit the check along with this donation slip, and we will be sure to send you a card back to thank you for any amount that you have given! We have had donors give anywhere from $25 to $15,000, so you can't give too little or too much! Thank you for supporting FOP!
