About the Conference:

This conference examines representations of Witchcraft and Paganism in cinema, television, literature, ephemera, new media and other media from 1900 - present day, exploring diverse subject areas in an interdisciplinary format.

Scholars, film makers and writers from a range of academic disciplines will be brought together to create a dialogue regarding the 'Charming and Crafty' aspects of this increasingly-mainstream yet marginalized culture which continues to generate fascination and controversy.

Accommodation:

UPDATE:

We have a conference rate secured for us at the Harvard Square Hotel (steps from the Brattle Theatre in the heart of Harvard Square!), but these rooms are subject to availability because it will be a busy graduation weekend for Boston University, Tufts and Boston College. The price per room is $229. This is the best rate we could secure for this time of year.

You may email reservations@theinnatharvard.com, or call them at 617-491-2222, between 8 am and 5 pm, EST.  Mention the group name "Charming and Crafty" or group code 72826, to get this special rate from May 17th thru the 21st. We urge you to make your arrangements as soon as possible to guarantee these prices!

For those of you looking for sharing or very inexpensive rooms then you can find these at Hostelling International Boston, found at http://www.bostonhostel.org, where you can reserve private and dorm rooms for prices ranging from $69 to $99 per night. We urge you to make arrangements as soon as possible since it will be a busy weekend in Boston! If you decide you'd like to share a room we may be able to assist in putting people in contact with each other...

We have also located a good deal near North Station (a 20-30 minute subway ride to Harvard, very easy access to public transportation). The Shawmut Inn has rooms for $122 per night (great price for Boston!) and the rooms include microwaves and fridges, plus free continental breakfast. They do not have a lot of rooms though so make your plans as soon as possible. Here is the website: http://www.shawmutinn.com/home.html
