The Political Impact of China's International Returned Migration
Donglin Han, Princeton-Harvard China and the World Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Han will explore the political impact of China’s international return migration during the last century. China is, without exception, under the increased impact of people's movements across borders; its past has been shaped significantly by return migration. Return migrants intensively participate in China's domestic political development, both in political institutions and culture. Dr. Han will compare the different waves of return migration and their political impact on Chinese politics to construct an explanation of the political impact over years.

Donglin Han received his PhD in social science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2009. His research interests include international migration, Chinese politics, and research methods. He has published articles in Asian Survey, Science, Technology and Society, and the China Quarterly (forthcoming).
