EPS GREEN TEAM
The positive & negative effects we have on the Earth
Facts
- Hoffman is the 8th most energy-intensive FAS building by square foot.
- The EPS Main office uses 30,000 sheets of paper a month.
- EPS buys 1000 paper cups a month for the 2 coffee stations.
- The department's total greenhouse gas emissions for FY 2005 totaled approximately 5,521,340 lbs. carbon dioxide equivalent. That's equal to 542 average cars on the road for a year, 285,000 gallons of gas, or enough electricity to power 321 houses for a year. It would take 2,087 acres of trees to store this much carbon for a year, and you'd have to plant 64,216 seedlings and grow them for 10 years to offset it.
Personal Consumption:

Energy Consumption:
Hoffman's energy consumption has decreased by close to 19% in the last five months.
Note: Energy data has been normalized
by degree day to remove the
effect of different temperatures between years.
