Welcome to the Creative Writing Program page for the Department of English and American Literature and Language. These pages provide information on the faculty, courses, and the senior thesis in creative writing. Creative writing courses are open, by application, to Harvard College undergraduates, graduate students, staff, and students from other institutions eligible for cross registration. Priority is given to Harvard undergraduates. Approximately twelve writing workshops are offered each term in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, screenwriting, and playwriting. Workshops are small, usually no more than twelve students, and concentrate on one genre. WIthout prior approval, students may not take more than one writing course per term. Please note that the department does not offer an MFA or other graduate degree, credit, or graduate seminars in creative writing. Please click on the links at the left for more information.
