Any safety concern, at any time, should be reported to the Harvard University Police department (HUPD) (www.hupd.harvard.edu). Call them 24 hours a day at 617.495.1212. Add this number in the speed-dial of your cell phone. Help is always available.
Safety at Harvard is something you can play an active role in ensuring. Most of the time, you can rely on common sense: pay attention to your surroundings, know about the risks that exist in this (and every) college campus environment, and know where to go for help if you need it. In every circumstance, whether on campus or off-campus, listen to your own intuition. If something—a situation, a person, a setting—doesn’t feel quite right, honor that instinct and act in your own best interest. You’re equipped with an excellent internal sense of equilibrium, and if something is telling you you’re not safe, respond and react. Explain later—be safe now.
