OF YOUR COMMUNITY

The Harvard community is a vibrant, empowering, and inspiring place, but you may wonder where you fit into it. Stop and take a look around you: the Harvard of the present is no longer the Harvard of the past. It still embodies much of the Harvard tradition and history; however, it’s a history to which you now belong. Each generation that passes through these gates has the opportunity not only to take advantage of the Harvard legacy, but to change it. Like all Harvard students before you, you have arrived here with your own collection of identities, memories, and goals. This community will encourage and foster your growth. You are a Harvard student. This is your place now, your community, your home
Finding your place—and yourself—within this community requires taking the time to explore and make choices. This may be your first chance to live and work in close quarters with others whose backgrounds, opinions, and preferences differ from yours. Take advantage of the community’s inherent diversity… it may turn out to be one of the most valuable parts of your Harvard education.
