Pibong-ri Site Will Be Designated As A Historic Site
Ch'angnyŏng Pibong-ri site in Kyŏngsang namdo province will be designated as a (national) historic site. According to Yonhap News, The Cultural Heritage Administration (문화재청) made a preliminary announcement of the designation of the area as a historic site. Pibong-ri site with shell mounds is a low, swampy place where Gimhae (Kimhae) National Museum excavation team discovered organic materials like acorns, nuts, a stringbag, and wooden tools as well as Neolithic pottery pieces in 2004 to 2005. In particular, a dugout that can be traced back to 6,000 B.C. raised public interest. The final decision of the designation will be made in 30 days.
