The 20-year-long Excavation Project in Kyŏngju

On March 20 2007, Gyeong-ju (Kyŏngju) National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage performed the commencing ceremony for the Tchoksaem(쪽샘) area excavation project in Kyŏngju, Korea. This 20-year-long project is going to unearth a 90-acre area east of the Tumuli Park where Ch'ŏnma ch'ong (Heavenly Horse Tomb), Hwangnam taech'ong (Hwangnam #98), and more than 20 royal stone piled tombs are located. It is reported that the whole process of the excavation will be open to public.
