KAREN FLOOD

Resident Dean

Karen Flood

As the Resident Dean of your House, I serve as both your academic dean and your residential dean. I am here to support you in your academic trajectory at Harvard, as well as in other aspects of your life in college. You can come and talk with me about your classes, your concentration choice, a possible leave of absence from Harvard, ideas about life after college, or other decisions you are making as you pursue your studies here. I am also interested in hearing about your overall well-being. Please do not hesitate to come by if you would like to discuss an issue you are facing in either your academic or personal life. You don’t need a specific reason to make an appointment or to come to the third floor of Lehman Hall---Just stop by and say hello!

In addition to serving as your Resident Dean, I am a Lecturer in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality program. I received my Ph.D. in the History of American Civilization program at Harvard. I specialize in nineteenth and twentieth century American cultural history, with particular interests in gender and sexuality, the history of medicine and science, beauty culture and body regimens, and death rituals and memorialization practices. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading fiction, and going out to movies and restaurants. I also love hiking, camping, and being in the woods (a cabin in Maine is one of my favorite places in the world). This is my first year as Resident Dean of Dudley, and I am enjoying becoming part of the Dudley community.

If you haven’t checked in with me recently, I encourage you to do so. You can e-mail me at dd-abrd@fas.harvard.edu to set up an appointment. For emergency business that requires immediate attention out of the usual hours, you can call HUPD at 495-1212, and they will know how to reach me.
