Outings 2007-2008
Dudley Outings Fellows organize trips around the Boston area and further afield throughout the academic year. Past and future outings include whale watching, hiking, kayaking, camping, walking tours, sporting events, musicals, and many other fun events. Some outings require advance tickets, which can be purchased in the House Office on the 3rd floor of Dudley House (Lehman Hall). Ticketed outings are open to Dudley House members, though members may bring one guest for some outings. See individual outings descriptions for more information. Most free events are "Show and Go" -- simply congregate at the time and place listed in the outing description. All members and guests are welcome to attend Show and Go outings.
A list of upcoming outings is below. Please contact the Outings Fellow listed in the outing description for more information on a particular outing.
April
Dudley House Skiing
Last Chance of the Season!
April 5
Jay Peak Resort
Thought you missed out on the ski season? Join fellow Dudley House members for a bus ride to the Canadian border for spring skiing in Jay Peak, Vermont! Jay Peak consistently records the highest snowfall totals in the northeast, so it's the best bet for late season skiing. The cost of lift ticket and transportation is $65, due at sign-up. Rentals are $25 and a 2-hour lesson is $32; the latter payments are due on the day of the trip. This day trip requires us to meet at ~4:20 in the morning, so be prepared to wake up early. Reserved for Dudley House members and a guest. Sign up begins Thursday, March 20 with Chad Conlan at the Dudley House Office on the third floor. Contact Matt Barr (barr@fas) for more details.
Minuteman Trail Walk
Sunday, April 13th
Enjoy one of Boston's classic walking and biking trails. This trail, which used to be a railroad, runs from Alewife through Lexington to Bedford passing by Spy Pond. The trail is 10 miles long, but you can turn around any time or take the bus back from Lexington. The only cost is T fare. Meet at the steps of Dudley at 10 am with water and a packed lunch. Contact Rachel Pepper (rpepper@fas) for more information.
Fenway Park Tour
Saturday, April 19th
Meet at the steps of Dudley at 12:30 pm or Fenway Park at 1:15 pm
Visit the park where the Babe pitched, The Kid hit, Yaz dazzled, and Manny and Ortiz still thrill fans today. Soak up the rich history; hear the echoes of the past. Join us for a guided tour of Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. This could be your only chance to experience the Sox this year, as Dudley was not able to get any tickets. Even if you go to the game, you will not get this close. Meet on steps of Dudley House at 12:30 pm or Fenway Park at 1:15 pm. Cost: $10 for the tour plus round-trip T fare ($3.40 with CharlieCard, $4.00 otherwise). Tickets are available now from Chad in the Dudley House Office, 3rd floor of Lehman Hall. We will have a reservation in advance, so the tour is limited to 40 people. Open to Dudley House members and their guests. Please top up your CharlieCard or purchase a ticket in advance. Contact Chris Hayward (chayward@fas) for more information.
Drowsy Chaperone
Tuesday, April 29, 7:30pm
Experience this "musical within a comedy" which won the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway. This homage to American musicals of the Jazz age will leave you laughing. Tickets are $28 (usually $55) and are for sale in the Dudley House Office starting Wednesday, April 2nd. Dudley House members may bring one guest each. Contact Rachel Pepper (rpepper@fas) for more information.
