General Information
Here's an introduction to the intramural program available to Dudley House Members. Also be sure to check out the Eligibility rules, as well as the official Harvard Intramural webpage!
Dudley House participates in the Harvard-Radcliffe Intramural Athletic Program, together with the other 12 Harvard houses. We take part in nearly 20 different sports, with co-ed, women's and men's teams.
You may participate in as many different sports as you want during the year. It is not necessary to be 'good' at a sport in order to play -- the important thing is to have fun, and the emphasis is on participation.
If you are interested in helping out Dudley's intramural efforts further, any assistance in organizing, coaching or captaining a team is always welcome.
The intramural year is divided into three seasons: Fall, Winter and Spring. The seasons feature the following sports:
Fall: Soccer, Coed Volleyball (A-league and B-league), Touch Football, Coed Ultimate Frisbee, Charles River Run, Tennis Tournament, Coed Soccer Tournament (6 players)
Winter: Basketball (A-league, B-league, women's, and 6-foot-and-under), Ice Hockey, Table Tennis, Fencing, Squash, Indoor Track
Spring: Volleyball (A-league and B-league), Rowing, Softball, Coed Soccer, Swimming, Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, Team Tennis Tournament
Come join in the fun and help us to build on Dudley House's success in Intramural Athletics in recent years. Over the past few years, Dudley has collected quite a few House Championship from sports such as Ultimate Frisbee, Touch Football, A-league Volleyball, Swimming, the Charles River Run, Women's Crew, Table Tennis, and Soccer. Our overall rank among Harvard houses in the Strauss cup competition has firmly stationed within the top four slots over the past several years. Regardless of how well we end up placing, it is always a lot of fun to play on one of the intramural teams.

Playoffs
As long as our record is .500 or better, we are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. If it is a little under .500, we stand a pretty good chance of making the playoffs, but let's try not not to have to rely on that chance!
Eligibility
Eligibility for Dudley Intramurals has been a contentious issue at times in the past. To avoid any misunderstandings, we have set up the following rules for IM participation. Please contact us if you have any questions, or are unsure about your eligibility status.
You must be a Dudley House member (all GSAS students and Dudley undergrads are automatically members). Senior Common Room members and House staff are also eligible.
If you earned a varsity letter in college (or have equivalent experience -- e.g. played on the university team in a non-varsity sport) you are not eligible for intramural competition in that sport. However, this does NOT exclude those ex- junior varsity members and club sports members.
Of course, if you earned a varsity letter in one sport, that does not disqualify you from IM competition in any other sports in which you do not have such a background. Moreover, with your experience in your sport you could be very helpful as a coach or organizer of Dudley's team, so please let us know if you are interested in playing such a role.
Complete eligibility rules for Harvard Intramurals can be found at the university's Recsport page.in the rule book!
