Ballet
[MP1] Beginning Ballet: Margot Parsons (Sep. 14 - Nov. 25)
M/W 4:15-5:45 (HDC, Studio 1)
For beginners or experienced dancers who want to revisit the basics.

[KU1] Beginning Ballet: Catherine Ulissey (Sep. 15 - Nov. 19)
T/Th 4:30-6:00 (Director’s Studio)
For beginners or experienced dancers who want to revisit the basics.

[KU2] Intermediate Ballet: Catherine Ulissey (Sep. 15-Nov. 19)
T/Th 6:15-7:45 (Director’s Studio)
For those with at least two years of ballet training.

[B1] Adv. Ballet: Jessica Kreyer/Catherine Ulissey (Sep. 14-Nov. 23)
M 6:00-7:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
At least three years of intermediate or advanced ballet training.

[B2] Adv. Ballet: Tai Jimenez (Sep. 16 - Nov. 25)
W 6:00-7:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
At least three years of intermediate or advanced ballet training.

[B3] Int/Adv. Ballet: Tai Jimenez (Sep. 18 - Nov. 20)
F 3:30-5:00 (HDC, Studio 1)
At least three years of intermediate or advanced ballet training.

[B4] Int/Adv. Ballet and Pointe: Tai Jimenez (Sep. 18-Nov. 20)

Dancers will have a 1.5 hour ballet class followed by an hour of pointe work. At least three years of intermediate or advanced ballet training. Prior experience en pointe is helpful, but not required.


Body Awareness and Conditioning
[P1] Pilates: Jessica Berson (Sep. 14 - Nov. 23)
M 3:30-4:30 (HDC, Studio 2)
Exercise class incorporating proper body usage through
mat work. No prior dance training required.

[EB1] Movement for Life: Elizabeth Bergmann (Sep. 17-Nov. 19)
Th 1:30-2:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
Based on the work of Dr. Josef Della Grotte and Dr. M. Feldenkrais, this class helps maintain strength and energize the body through a clear set of pathway parameters to maximize wellness and fitness for life. No prior dance training required.

[MS1] Modern Strengthening: Jodi Allen (Sep. 19 - Nov. 21)
Sa 12:00-1:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
Use of modern dance techniques, including Graham and Horton-based modern, as a strengthening and stretching tool to tone and lengthen the body as a whole. No prior experience necessary.


Contemporary
[CN1] Beg. Contemporary: Jessica Berson (Sep. 14 - Nov. 25)
M 4:45-6:00 (HDC, Studio 2)
This class explores basic concepts in contemporary dance techniques for beginners or experienced dancers who want to revisit the basics.

[CN2] Contemporary Master Class Series: Guest Teachers (Sep. 15 - Nov. 17)
T 6:00-7:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
Guest artists from across the U.S. and Europe offer master classes in a range of contemporary dance techniques and styles. Teachers include Helen Pickett, Isira Makuloluwe, Josie Walsh, and others. Intermediate and Advanced dancers only.

[CN3] Int/Adv. Contemporary: Tommy Neblett (Sep. 17-Nov. 19)
Th 6:00-7:30 (HDC, Studio 1)
This class fuses Neblett’s own eclectic style with influences from
Limón, Horton and Cunningham.


Jazz/Hip-Hop
[TD1] Theater Dance: Kristin Aune (Sep. 16 - Nov. 25))
W 4:45-6:00 (HDC, Studio 2)
Develop technique through jazz and ballet warmups, with emphasis on placement and style. Combinations include Broadway repertory and new choreography, encouraging students to work on expression and confident performance. Some prior dance experience required.

[HK1] Hip-Hop: Henry Kasdon (Sep. 17 - Nov. 19)
Th 5:30-7:00 (HDC, Studio 2)
Includes elements of latin, breakin’, reggae, etc. This is NOT street jazz, but true hip hop drawing from elements of swing, African, and American soul. Jazz sneakers and knee pads required.

[JZ1] Intermediate Jazz: Stephanie Heroux (Sep. 19 - Nov. 21)
Sa 1:30-3:00 (HDC, Studio 1)
This class is designed to strengthen the student's jazz technique. Emphasis is on placement, movement qualities, and jazz styles. At least two years of dance training required. Jazz shoes.


Tap
[T1] Beginning Tap: Julia Boynton (Sep. 18 - Nov. 20)
F 1:30-2:30 (HDC, Studio 2)
Little or no tap training required. Learn/review basic tap technique.

[T2] Intermediate Tap: Julia Boynton (Sep. 18 - Nov. 20)
F 2:30-3:30 (HDC, Studio 2)
Two or more years of tap training. Work on speed, phrasing and
technique.

Studios 1 & 2 are located at the Harvard Dance Center
The Director’s Studio is at the Office for the Arts' main office, 74 Mt. Auburn St.

Classes will be refunded until Monday, September 28.

Class placement is subject to the discretion of instructors. We reserve the right to limit class size and to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. Preference will be given, in the following order, to Harvard undergraduates, Harvard graduate students, Harvard community, and students from other affiliated institutions.

Attendance Policy: All students are expected to attend classes on a regular basis. Excessive absence may result in the instructor requesting that you withdraw. For courses meeting twice per week, attendance is expected at both sessions.

Dance Program Holidays--No Classes on These Days:
Presidents' Day: Monday, February 16
Spring Break: Sunday, March 22 - Sunday, March 29
