Proudly Present:
Pilot
Project
'Hip Hop and
Literature'
Ayara aims to unite youth driven initiatives that use urban arts as a
means to provide young people with viable alternatives to war and
crime. These initiatives are confounded by Coraid (Netherlands)
and are part of the international network of youth organizations that
is promoted by the Safe Cities Program of the United Nations office
UN Habitat.
Since
August 2008, Ayara has been working with Cultural Agents
to develop and pilot the project 'Hip Hop and Literature.'
Future workshops are scheduled for summer 2009, in Leticia, Amazonas
and in La Modelo prison in Bogotá. The initiative in sponsored
by the cultural department of the Colombian Banco de La República.
In the spring, Cultural Center 'Ayara' organized a forum on the Hip
Hop industry in Columbia, as well as organizing a Graffiti Tour in
Bogotá, with exhibitions in public spaces and an educational DVD for
artists.

The different faces in her paintings demonstrate the characters of
life; the mystery of every single personality hidden in masks, a call

The New England Gallery of Latin American Art (NEGLAA) is dedicated
exclusively to promoting Latin American art and artists. NEGLAA
was formed by Latin American entrepreneurs whose sole objective is to
promote local, national and international Latin American art in all
media by offering the artists an open window to the world.
NEGLAA also endeavors to fulfill the mission of promoting education
and cultural activities for the encouragement, growth and development
of new Latin American talents and the Latino community.

We are happy to introduce the Paper
Picker Press as part of the summer programs at BCNC and IBA - Cacique Youtth
Learning Center for Teens.
Artists and staff
trained by Cultural Agents will apply the philosophy and practices of
the PPP in reading, writing, and critical thinking through creativity
in a range of arts to complement their current summer programs.
The Boston
Chinatown Neighborhood Center BCNC will implement a six week Paper
Picker Press program, beginning July 6th.
Inquilinos
Boriquas en Acción will implement an eight week Paper Picker Press
program, also beginning July 6th
