        Hosted by Inquilinos Boriquas en Acción, the Cultural
        Agents Initiative will train local artists at the Jorge   
        Hernández Center in the South End in Boston.  We will             train them in the philosophy and practices of the Paper             Picker Press or "Cartonera" in Spanish, a program that 
        promotes reading, writing, and critical thinking through  
        creativity in a range of arts.  After the workshop, they will         implement the Cartonera in the South End.

Sponsored by the Fundación Chana y Samuel Levis, the Cultural Agents Initiative will train twenty teachers along with ten local artists during the summer academy at Universidad del Este in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.  We will train them in the philosophy and practices of the Paper Picker Press or "Cartonera" in Spanish, a program that promotes reading, writing, and critical thinking through creativity in a range of arts.  After the workshop, they will implement the Cartonera in five different schools.

BOOMTOWN Festival!
June 1-11, 2009

All events are FREE and activities include music concerts, art workshops for kids, dance interventions, gallery receptions, and public art walking tours!

Events will take place on weekdays and weekday events at the Multicultural Arts Center, in nearby Centanni Courtyard Park,and new this year -walking tours of the public artwork on display in East Cambridge.  All events are rain or shine!
