Literature that Changed My Life

The Cultural Agents Initiative, the Office of the Dean for the Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Harvard University Press host an annual undergraduate essay contest that encourages students to explore the impact of literature on their lives. The winner receives a $500 gift certificate to Harvard University Press. Please stay tuned for next year's contest!

Papers from all disciplines will be considered.
To Apply: Just submit an Abstract of your thesis, no more than 200 words long, by Monday, April 21 to cultagen@fas.harvard.edu Activist theater in Brazil. Photography programs that teach youth from Boston's poorest communities a new way to express themselves. Senegalese rappers whose political clout makes Public Enemy look like Vanilla Ice. A Peruvian community publishing house that combines recycling with creative literacy workshops. Are you completing an undergraduate thesis this spring that explores another example of how the arts can act as a social resource? Would you like to show off the fruits of your hard work and enjoy an opportunity to converse and network with local NGO activists? Then you should apply to participate in the Spring 2008 Cultural Agents' Harvard Undergraduate Thesis Forum! Join a select group of seniors in presenting your work to the community, including representatives from local NGOs. Prizes TBA.
