About Us
Introduction
The Committee on the Study of Religion is a unique standing committee of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the only curricular committee to sponsor both an undergraduate concentration and a graduate program for Ph.D. students.
Our home is on the third and fourth floors of the Barker Center, a congenial center we share with other Humanities departments and the Humanities Center, a locus for interdisciplinary discussion. The Barker Center is located on the edge of Harvard Yard, across Quincy Street from Lamont Library and next to the Harvard Faculty Club. (Find in Google Maps).
The Committee on the Study of Religion includes faculty members from several departments within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and from the Harvard Divinity School. Members are appointed by the Dean of FAS and the Dean of the Faculty of Divinity.
Our undergraduate concentration is in the Comparative Study of Religion, a small concentration with a superb faculty and tutorial staff.
On the graduate level, the Committee administers both Ph.D. and Th.D programs. The Ph.D. is governed and granted by FAS, while the Th.D. is governed and granted by the Harvard Divinity School.
