David Nickles (Office of the Historian, Department of State)
David Nickles received an M.Phil. in 1991 in International Relations from Oxford and then a Ph.D. in History in 2000 from Harvard. After completing his doctorate he became an Olin Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Security Studies at Yale University, where he spent one year before moving on to begin work in the Office of the Historian of the U.S. Department of State. His dissertation was recently published under the title Under the Wire: How the Telegraph Changed Diplomacy (Harvard University Press, 2003).
