The complete CHGIS V3 search engine, written in PHP5, is available in a ZIP archive here. These scripts are written to connect to the tables found in the CHGIS V3 MySQL Database, also downloadable here.

The CHGIS MySQL implementation includes all the basic tables used for the CHGIS search engine. There are six tables, with descriptions below.

• ALT_NAME (Alternate Name Table)
• GIS_INFO (GIS Info Table)
• MAIN (Main Historical Instance Table)
• PART_OF (Part Of Administrative Hierarchy Table)
• PREC_BY (Preceded By Temporal Sequence Table)
• SRC_NOTES (Source Notes Table)

There are eight files, described as follows:

• connect.inc [connection info to MySQL database, which must be CHANGED to your own connection info]
• v3_footer.inc [copyright and author info]
• v3_search_form.php [form for input of search parameters, NOTE: UTF-8 encoding needed!]
• v3_search_basic.php [first query results in a list of hits from the database]
• v3_search_details.php [details query joins info from several tables in the database]
• v3_src_note.php [grabs the complete pre-formatted HTML source note from the database UTF-8 encoding]
• v3_children.php [grabs records of child units from the PartOF table]
• results_info.html [provides descriptions of output on the v3_search_details page]

NOTE: v3_search_details contains a virtual include call to MAPSERVER currently running at http://chgis.fas.harvard.edu. This server may not be supported in the future. You may want to delete all the code from the close of table t5 "" down to the v3_footer.inc include statement.

This archive contains the PHP scripts needed to query the database, not the MySQL Tables. The MySQL database is released separately here.
