  Map Resolution Details

  Each map required three separate scans, one for the top portion, one for middle, and one for the bottom portion.
  The scans were made at a resoluton of 300 dpi, 3508x2482 pixels, with an average filesize=2.5MB. These were post-processed to medium sized images, 1000x708 pixels, average filesize=175KB; and to small size images of 300x212 pixels, average filesize=16KB.

  The naming convention is as follows:
  Full scale: place_top-mid-btm_300dpi
  Med scale: place_top-mid-btm_med
  Small scale: place_top-mid-btm_sm

  Permission to distribute digital scans of Joseph Rock Maps

  The Harvard Yenching Institute hereby agrees to allow the free distribution of digital scan images made from the four map sheets:

  • Te-Ch’in (I of IV)
  • Wei-Hsi (II of IV)
  • Li-Chiang (III of IV)
  • Yen-Yuan (IV of IV)
