African languages can be taken to fulfill all the language requirements for Harvard College. These languages are a core part of the African Studies Track in the Dept. of African and African American Studies (AAAS) and relate well to a variety of courses within the University. On average, the program provides instruction in 15 different African languages each year.

Harvard encourages study abroad for its undergraduates. The Office of International Programs is charged with assisting students in finding the University program abroad which best fits their academic needs. It provides links and information on the study programs in Africa that have been approved for Harvard undergraduates. Students might also want to examine the offerings of African universities for other options.
