The new HUIT brings together great people from FAS and UIS to deliver IT services that will make it easier for faculty, students, and staff across the University to do their extraordinary work. But more than this, the new HUIT is also about harnessing the transformative potential of IT and fostering innovation in ways that best support teaching, learning, research, and efficient operations.

As of June 15, 2011 University Information Systems (UIS) and Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) IT are unified as Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT). The mission of HUIT is to make it easier for faculty, students, and staff to teach, conduct research, learn, and work through the effective use of information technology. HUIT directly serves the IT needs of users in both FAS and the Central Administration, while continuing to provide IT infrastructure to the entire University.

Faculty, students, and staff will continue to receive IT support through existing channels, such as the UIS Help Desk at 6-2001 and the FAS Help Desk at 5-9000. However, a new, unified Support Center is also available to those who need help finding the right contact in HUIT at 5-7777 or ithelp@harvard.edu. HUIT will operate under a “no wrong door” policy to ensure that services are quickly provided regardless of how they are requested.
