Lizabeth Cohen

Lizabeth Cohen, Howard Mumford Jones Professor of American Studies, has just published A Consumer's Republic: The Politics of Mass Consumption in Postwar America (Knopf, 2003). She is also the author of Making a New Deal: Industrial Workers in Chicago, 1919-1939, (Cambridge, 1990), which won the Bancroft Prize in 1991 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer. Her teaching and research interests include consumer culture, material culture, the built environment, and the political and social life of twentieth-century America.
