AAASS National Convention
One of the core activities of the AAASS is the annual national convention. Held in the fall, the convention takes place each year in a different city and is generally hosted by one of the Association's regional affiliates. This national forum makes possible a broad exchange of information and ideas, stimulating further work and sustaining the intellectual vitality of the field.
2008 National Convention
The 40th National Convention of the AAASS will be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Thursday, November 20 through Sunday, November 23, 2008.
The Registration Desk will open on Thurday morning at 9:00 a.m. Panel Sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The last session on Sunday will begin at 10:15 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m.

Convention Child Care
The AAASS Parent Cooperative invites you to register for child care during the AAASS National Convention. Child care, provided by Kiddie Corp, will take place in the conference hotel and costs $10 per hour, per child. The registration deadline is September 25. Hotel Reservation
The AAASS special group rate for convention participants is $160 per night for a single or double room. To make a reservation, please click on the link to the reservation page for the Philadelphia Marriott, which will take you to the property's home page with the code necessary to get the group rate rooms already entered in the appropriate field. All you need to do is enter your arrival date to begin the reservation process.

Please note that rooms set aside for graduate students at a lower rate are sold out.
Convention Registration
All convention participants must register and pay the registration fee. You may register for the convention online through the Members Only / Registered Users site (www.aaassmembers.org) or download a pre-registration form. Panel and Roundtable participants must pre-register by September 30 to have their names listed in Convention Program Index. Pre-registration will close on October 10. After that, you must register on site and the fee will be an additional $30 ($10 for students; $15 for retirees). Avoid long lines and extra expense by pre-registering. ... more...
Audio-Visual Equipment Requests
All requests for audio-visual equipment were due byJuly 1. Please note that we will not provide LCD Projectors (for PowerPoint presentations)-they are too expensive to rent. We only provide up to $150 worth of equipment (normally the cost of a slide/overhead projector and screen) and we will bill the panel organizer for any equipment requests over that amount. If you have missed the deadline, you will have to contact the audio-visual company at the hotel to arrange for your equipment and pay for it.
Convention Program
The preliminary program for the 2008 convention is now available online and will also be published in the August issue of NewsNet. The final version of the program will be distributed at the convention. Changes for the final program must be received by Friday, September 12.
Convention Exhibitors and Advertisers
Organizations and companies interested in placing an ad in the 2008 AAASS National Convention Program should download and fill out the Contract for Advertising Space and return it to Wendy Walker, AAASS Convention Coordinator. Exhibiting kits for for organizations and companies interested in purchasing a booth in the AAASS Convention Exhibit Hall will be sent out shortly.
