The office of the Production Coordinator and Advisor for College Theater Programs, Dana Knox, has general oversight responsibility for most theatrical productions on campus that occur outside the Loeb Drama Center. Working with the Technical Director of College Theater, Tom Morgan, and the Technical Supervisors, Andrew Gitchel (NCT) and Liz Dean (Agassiz), first and foremost we strive to ensure the well being of performers and audiences by enforcing fire and safety codes as well as “best practices” of Stagecraft. We also work to raise overall production levels of shows through advising, organizing workshops, and hands-on teaching. To help productions financially, we create and maintain relationships with most area theatrical vendors, stock often used supplies in-house for sale, and help negotiate rights and royalties agreements. In addition to these responsibilities, we act as Technical Directors of the Agassiz Theatre, providing day-to-day management and supervision of all undergraduate productions. The following sections provide information and resources for producing theatrical productions at Harvard. Some links are noted “New College Theatre only” or "Agassiz Only" as some equipment and support are only available for their respective productions. Your first step in doing a show at Harvard should be to contact Dana - in fact, in 99% of the venues at Harvard, it is the required first step. He is located in the New College Theatre at 10-12 Holyoke St, and has semi-regular hours of 10 to 5pm weekdays and is also occasionally available evenings and weekends.
