This page includes links to courses offered by the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences and some of the other schools at which it is possible for RSEA students to cross-register: the Harvard Law School, Business School, Divinity School, School of Public Health, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, the Graduate School of Design, the Graduate School of Education, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts, and MIT.

In order to graduate, a student in the RSEA program must complete eight half-courses with specifically East Asian-related content. However, certain methodological or issue-oriented courses that draw only in part upon East Asian experience are, in some cases, acceptable. Students in the Regional Studies—East Asia program should bear in mind, though, that they are not limited in their choice of courses solely to those with East Asian content, and that—in consultation with their academic advisors and the program administrator—they are free to draw upon all courses offered by the university in designing a program most appropriate for them. Students are reminded that the possibilities for cross-registration are not limited solely to those courses specifically on East Asia. The normal course load is four half-courses per term, but as many as six may be taken without incurring additional tuition charges. Four courses, however, generally represent the maximum load to which a student can do adequate justice, although occasionally an RSEA student may take five courses in one term. Almost all courses are taught as half-courses—that is, courses completed in a single term rather than extending over the full academic year.
