Internet Resources for Foreign Language, Literature, and Culture
From the Association of College & Research Libraries, this page provides links to sources of information that will be useful to language students. Sources include discussion groups, scholarly organizations, subject guides to overseas websites, primary textual sources, radio and television broadcasts, and dictionaries. Focus on modern, Western European languages and cultures.

Ethnologue
This site catalogs more than 6,700 languages spoken in 228 countries, organizing languages according to language families. It includes a bibliography, list of abbreviations, maps, and a ranking of the top 100 languages by population.

iLoveLanguages!
An index of language-learning resources arranged by topic. Many entries are annotated, and entries that have been added within the last 30 days are indicated by a special icon. Access: http://www.june29.com/HLP/.

Voice of the Shuttle
Contains an annotated set of links to sites concerned with literature written in many European languages, as well as Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. A helpful link to sites with text-analysis and bibliographic software is included.

WESSWeb
This site, maintained by ACRL’s WESS section, focuses on information useful to Western European Specialists. Separate pages available for French Studies, Iberian Studies, and Italian Studies. Resources arranged by subject and by type: newspapers, library catalogs, etc.). Hierarchically organized, first by topic, then by type of resources (primary sources, journals, book reviews, etc.) and links often accompanied by a brief annotation. Site can be searched by keyword.

CIA - THE WORLD FACTBOOK:
This is the U.S. government's complete geographical website. It features 268 full-color maps and flags of all nations and geographical entities. Each country profile tracks such demographics as population, ethnicity and literacy rates, as well as political, geographical and economic data.

World Statesmen by Ben Cahoon:
An encyclopedia of nations, colonies, as well as international and religious organizations. Includes country facts, maps, anthems, flags, and links.

This award winning website features 46 interactive and very original city websites worldwide. Highly recommended.
