The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor or tenure-track associate professor in colonial Latin America with an emphasis on the literatures and cultures of Mexico and Mesoamerica and/or the Andean region. Knowledge of Portuguese and at least one indigenous language is particularly desirable. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2008. A strong doctoral record is required. Applicants should have an active record of research and publication and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Teaching duties include four courses a year at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as advising undergraduate and graduate theses. Assistant or Associate Professorship in Italian Studies

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant or tenure-track associate professor in Italian Studies. The appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2008. Teaching duties will include four courses a year at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Native or near-native fluency in Italian, a strong doctoral record in Italian Studies, college-level teaching experience, and evidence of scholarly activity are all required. A special interest in cultural studies, cultural history, women's and gender studies, or film and visual studies is preferred, but any field of specialization will be considered.

Senior Preceptor in French Language

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks applications for a senior preceptor in French language and cultures beginning September 2008. The appointment is renewable every five years based on performance reviews.
Candidates should have professional expertise in second-language acquisition and CALL. Preference will be given to candidates with at least five years' experience in post-secondary teaching, including curriculum design and supervision of teaching assistants. An advanced degree in an appropriate field and native or near-native proficiency in French and English are required.

Lauro De Bosis Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Committee for the Lauro De Bosis Lectureship in the History of Italian Civilization at Harvard University seeks candidates who have already (within the past ten years) attained the Ph.D. (or equivalent) for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the social sciences or humanities, to be held during academic year 2008-2009. The fellowship may be one or two semesters in length, depending on the proposed course of research; it carries a stipend of $25,000 for one semester and $45,000 for two semesters. The candidate will be expected to use the resources of the University to pursue a project with a substantial Italian component. He or she will have the opportunity to teach a course or organize a workshop at Harvard as well, and will be expected in any case to make a seminar presentation of his or her work.
