Professor Yukio Lippit received his B.A. in Literature from Harvard in 1993 and his Ph.D. in Art History from Princeton in 2003. He was also affiliated with the graduate programs at the Paris Center for Critical Studies and the University of Tokyo. From 2001 to 2003, Lippit was an Andrew W. Mellon fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. His research interests primarily concern Japanese painting of the medieval and early modern periods. He is currently writing a book on the origins of Japanese painting history in the seventeenth century.
