Theodore Alexander

Jake Beck
Jacob Beck

Jake earned his B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in philosophy and minored in cognitive science. Since coming to Harvard for graduate school, Jake has continued to focus on issues at the intersection of philosophy and psychology, though he hopes to live long enough to contribute to several other areas of philosophical interest, including philosophy of language, philosophy of science, epistemology and ethics. When he's not working on philosophy, and manages to scrounge sufficient funds, Jake likes to fulfill his wanderlust by globetrotting.

Ryan Doerfler
Ryan Doerfler

(B.A., Wake Forest University, 2004) Ryan is interested in question about truth and realism generally speaking, though he is particularly interested in those questions as they pop up in discussions of evaluative discourse.  Additionally/relatedly, Ryan spends a lot of time thinking about the nature of indeterminacy and issues having to do with rule-following.  In his spare time, Ryan loves to cook (alas, his career as a professional line cook seems to have come to an end) and spends a fair amount of time at indie rock shows.

Wendy Salkin
Wendy Salkin

Wendy Salkin received her B.A. from New York University in 2007. where she majored in philosophy and Africana studies. She is certain she has philosophical interests, and has sometimes claimed that they primarily concern the history of philosophy and ethics. Outside of philosophy, Wendy enjoys cooking, film-going, biking, practicing yoga, and playing Scrabble (provided that she wins).

Paul Schofield

Paul Schofield took his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame Program of Liberal Studies, and his M.A. from Department of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His research interests are moral and political philosophy, action theory, and personal identity.

James Shaw
James Shaw

James studied philosophy, mathematics, and classical languages and literature at the University of Pennsylvania before joining the program at Harvard in 2004. His dissertation lies at the intersection of logic, linguistics, and the philosophy of language and specifically treats the topics of linguistic anomaly and semantic paradox. He also has research interests in the history of analytic philosophy and (like many graduate students) an unfulfillable longing to learn and write about virtually all areas of philosophy. In his spare time James greatly enjoys napping, eating, and traveling.
