International Travel Handbook

Faculty of Arts and Sciences Harvard College Harvard University Office of International Programs

INTRODUCTION

We hope this handbook will help prepare you for your time abroad, and remind you that it is your experience and will be your success if you handle it well. Research your destination as well as the cultural and practical challenges that you may face. Your success in living, studying, working and even traveling abroad will be assessed differently than your life at Harvard. In the long run, the memories that will stick with you will most likely be those of times when you were required to be resourceful and to use skills that you may not have even known that you had. Remember that you are a student ambassador of Harvard University and of the United States. Be adaptable; look for community; seek out friendships. And when you come back, share your experiences with others and bring the world back to Harvard!
