The LG Yonam Foundation in Seoul, Korea is establishing the Yonam Foundation Book Fund to assist in the acquisition of materials for the Korean section. According to Choong Nam Yoon, librarian for the Korean collection, the Yonam Foundation has supported Korean acquisitions since 1981 with an annual payment of $15,000 to book dealers in Korea. Income from the book fund will be used to buy new Korean materials for the library. By establishing this book endowment fund in its name, the foundation will make this income available in perpetuity for the Korean section.

The Ick Hyung Liu Memorial Book Fund has been established by a donation from Sung Kwon Liu, president of the Panmun Book Company in Seoul, Korea. His father, the late Ick Hyung Liu, was a pioneer in the international book trade in Korea, as well as the most successful Korean book dealer. A graduate of Seoul National University, Ick Hyung Liu came to Boston in 1952 to study history at Boston University and worked part-time at the Harvard-Yenching Library with the late Sungha Kim. Mr. S.K. Liu has pledged a total of $25,000 for the endowment.
