David McCann Receives Han’gŭl Award

David McCann was awarded “The Order of Culture Merit” by the Government of the Republic of Korea in 2006 for his “dedication to the enhancement of Han’gŭl.” He traveled to Seoul to receive this award at the Han’gŭl-nal ceremony on October 9, 2006. This year, McCann was named a Fellow of the Institute of Corean-American Studies (ICAS) and is the recipient of Michigan State University’s Global Korea Award. This award is granted to those who “have made significant contribution of cross-cultural understanding, global education, and well-being of Korean people around the world.” McCann has also published a new book of poems, The Way I Wait for You (Codhill Press, New Paltz, NY, 2007).
