Visiting Day for 2012 will be Tuesday, October 16. The visit is intended to introduce prospective applicants to the department and has no bearing on your chances of admission. Whether or not you plan to join us on October 16, we encourage you to consult the department website for information about the graduate program and the faculty. To arrange to visit on October 16, please contact the Administrative Coordinator for Graduate Studies.
Applicants who have been offered admission are notified by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, usually some time in March. The Graduate School offers an orientation for newly admitted students, and the Department is happy to welcome newly admitted students who visit at that time or any time prior to April 15, the deadline by which the Harvard GSAS (as well as most of the leading American graduate schools) requires a reply to offers of admission.
Special Students and Visiting Fellows
Students who meet the eligibility requirements to apply for admission as Special Students or Visiting Fellows—the non-degree programs of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences—and who are interested in being admitted with affiliation with the History of Science, are strongly encouraged to contact the members of the faculty with whom they would like to work if offered admission prior to applying.
Exchange Scholar Program
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences participates in the Exchange Scholar Program. Doctoral candidates in the History of Science and related fields at participating institutions who are interested in visiting the Department as an Exchange Scholar are strongly encouraged to contact the members of the faculty with whom they would like to work if offered admission prior to applying.
