The History Department's 53 regular faculty members offer students a choice of over 190 historical courses. Our undergraduate and graduate students are trained in the discipline of history to achieve the competence required of scholars and teachers of history today. Both the undergraduate program, which attracts 300 concentrators, and the graduate program, which annually admits between 15-20 doctoral candidates, expose each future scholar to the theories and methods of other historians, accepting or applying some, rejecting or modifying others, so that new ideas may develop through intellectual dialogue. |
