Student involvementThe Fairbank Center is actively involved with undergraduate and graduate students and their organizations on campus. In the 2007-2008 academic year the Center awarded grants of over $30,000 to students and student groups and in addition has provided an even larger sum for student fellowships and grants for summer language study abroad. Students are present at all major Fairbank Center events and are often invited to the receptions and dinners held by the Center. Members of the Harvard faculty and Boston-area affiliated faculty also participate in these events, and students are thus able to meet and explore common interests in a relaxed setting with faculty who are China specialists. Students are welcome to use the facilities of the Center (the library and lounge areas are open during regular hours, meeting rooms require prior reservations). Student organizations regularly benefit from the assistance the Center staff extends to them. Useful links to student organizations that have been assisted by the Fairbank Center, and to campus offices of interest to students, are listed here. |
