This collage was made on a 5x7" canvas out of black and white newsprint found in Greece. The pieces are folded and pasted to create a three-dimensional effect. The collage was published in Juliana Spahr and Jena Osman’s magazine Chain. “1998” is one of a type of collage I have been making since the early 1990’s constructed from elements found on outdoor advertising. three dimensional. Nick Piombino’s collages were shown in a group show called “Poetry Plastique” at the Maryann Boesky Gallery in New York in 2001, curated by Charles Bernstein and Jay Sanders.
