Working Group on Environmental Justice

Program Directors: James Hoyte and Timothy C. Weiskel

The purpose of the Working Group on Environmental Justice is to acknowledge and promote research and teaching on issues relating to environmental justice both within this country and abroad. The Group brings together a diverse faculty within Harvard as well as interested individuals from beyond Harvard to focus attention on these issues.

Over the past two years the Working Group on Environmental Justice has held periodic meetings and convened public workshops. In addition, to facilitate exchange of material in this important domain, it has created a Web site (EcoJustice.Net/) that contains bibliography and documentary material, and points to important audio-visual materials available in this country and throughout the world on this topic. This group's work has proved to be a valuable resource to stimulate research and teaching at Harvard on issues of environmental justice. The Working Group is also working toward the creation of a Fellowship in Environmental Justice.
